PATH Cross-Border Advisory | PATH Administrative Attorney’s Office
The Seoul Immigration Office begins operations at its new premises in Munjeong-dong, Songpa-gu, on October 19, 2026. From that date, services will no longer be provided at the former Mok-dong office.
If you are preparing for foreign resident registration, an extension of stay, or a domestic residence report as an overseas Korean, check not only the new address but also the office, date, and service counter shown in your appointment details. If you applied for a residence card before the move and have not yet received it, you should also confirm where to collect it.
This article summarizes the practical points to check before visiting the new office.
1. From October 19, Visit the New Office in Munjeong
| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Opening date | Monday, October 19, 2026 |
| New office address | 55 Jeongui-ro, Songpa-gu, Seoul |
| Former Mok-dong office | 151 Mokdongdong-ro, Yangcheon-gu, Seoul |
| Services at the Mok-dong office | No services from October 19, 2026 |
| General inquiries | Immigration Contact Center: 1345 |
Notices issued before the move and saved map locations may still show the Mok-dong address. When planning your visit, check the street address as well as the office name: 55 Jeongui-ro, Songpa-gu, Seoulis the new location.

2. A Change of Location Does Not Itself Mean a Change in Immigration Rules
The confirmed changes primarily concern the location of services and the arrangement of counters. Residence-related service counters previously divided between the first and third floors will be consolidated on the first floor of the new building. News reports also identify this consolidation as a key change.
The relocation alone does not mean that visa requirements, extension-of-stay criteria, or required documents have changed. Check the guidance for your particular immigration status and application type separately.

3. What Should You Check If You Already Have an Appointment?
If you have already booked a visit, first review your appointment details on Hi Korea. Check the following:
- Whether the appointment is with the Seoul Immigration Office
- The date and time of your visit
- The service and counter you booked
- Whether your booking details or a separate notice show any changes
If your appointment at the Seoul Immigration Office is on or after October 19, 2026, plan your visit using the new office address.
We have not identified a basis in the official relocation notice for concluding that existing appointments must be canceled and rebooked. Before canceling a reservation because of the move, review your current booking and any instructions that apply to it.
If your confirmation still shows the Mok-dong address, or the office or counter is unclear, have your appointment details ready and check with Hi Korea or the 1345 contact center.
4. Should Everyone Living in Seoul Go to Munjeong?
Living in Seoul does not automatically mean that you should visit the new Munjeong office. The Seoul Immigration Office, Sejongno Branch Office, and Seoul Southern Immigration Office are distinct offices.
The appropriate office depends on jurisdiction over your residential address and the service you need. Nationality matters, in particular, may have different responsible offices or procedures from ordinary residence applications. Do not choose an office solely because it is nearby.
If you have already made an appointment, first check the office nameon your confirmation. This is a relocation of the Seoul Immigration Office; it does not mean that all immigration services in Seoul are being consolidated in Munjeong.

5. Getting There: Compare Walking Distances as Well as Transfers
The official notice lists the following main access routes:
| Transport | Exit or stop | Walking time in the official notice |
|---|---|---|
| Subway Line 8 | Munjeong Station, Exit 4 | About 10 minutes |
| Local bus Songpa 02 | Hillstate Eco Songpa stop (힐스테이트에코송파) | About 2 minutes |
| Local bus Songpa 02 | Seoul Korean Medicine Hospital stop (서울한방병원) | About 2 minutes |
| Other bus services | Munjeong Rodeo Street Entrance stop (문정로데오거리입구) | About 15 minutes |
You can walk from Munjeong Station. Older visitors and those carrying documents or luggage may also wish to compare routes using local bus stops closer to the building. Consider the actual walking distance as well as the number of transfers.
The official notice lists trunk buses 302, 303, 320, 333, 343, 345, 350 and 360, among others; branch buses 3420 and 3422; and metropolitan buses 1009, 1112, 1117 and 1650, among others, for the Munjeong Rodeo Street Entrance stop. Allow approximately 15 minutes to walk from this stop to the office: it is not directly outside the building.
If you are traveling from Suseo SRT Station or another transport hub, compare transfer and walking sections for your intended departure time. Actual walking times may vary with your pace and traffic signals, so allow a buffer before your appointment.

6. More Parking Spaces, but Public Transport Is Recommended
According to news reports, parking capacity will increase from approximately 25 to around 60 vehicles. More spaces do not guarantee that parking will be available when you arrive. The official relocation notice recommends public transport.
If you drive, allow time for parking queues and entry into the building. Check current information on parking fees, any free parking period, and vehicle entrances rather than assuming that the former Mok-dong arrangements still apply.

7. Where Should You Collect a Card Applied for Before the Move?
If you applied for a residence card or an overseas Korean residence card at the Mok-dong office and have not collected it, bear in mind that the collection location may differ from the place where you applied.
If you chose in-person collection, check the date and location on your receipt and collection text message. If the notice still gives the Mok-dong address, confirm the collection location and counter after the move before traveling.
If you requested postal delivery, follow the delivery instructions rather than the in-person collection procedure. Do not assume that the relocation alone requires you to visit the new office or submit the same application again.
Three Things to Check Before You Leave
The key details to confirm are the office, the date of your visit, and the actual street address.
For visits to the Seoul Immigration Office on or after October 19, 2026, plan your journey to the new Munjeong premises and review your appointment confirmation, application receipt, and any other instructions for your case. General relocation notices may not resolve every question about card collection or an individual booking; the guidance specific to your case should take priority.
